Life Perspectives offers a wide range of educational opportunities for individuals and organizations committed to fostering a culture of hope and healing. These programs explore grief and loss after miscarriage and abortion, as well as other reproductive losses. Training equips leaders with knowledge and practical tools to help men and women know they are not alone and that healing is possible. Life Perspectives is the global leader in education, research, expertise and support after reproductive loss including miscarriage and abortion, without religious or political affiliation. We provide training and resources to health professionals including hospitals, medical professionals, therapists, and other caregivers. Life Perspectives is nationally accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the National Association of Social Workers, and approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs.

Reproductive Loss 101: Facilitating the Grieving Process [3 CEUs]
Approximately two million couples experience reproductive loss through miscarriage or abortion every year in the United States. Studies indicate that many of these couples silently mourn without the social support necessary to make sense of their loss. As a mental health professional you are in a unique position to identify unresolved grief and to facilitate a healthy grieving process.

Reproductive Loss 102: Continuing the Healing Journey [3 CEUs]
*Completion of Reproductive Loss 101 required
With the prevalence of reproductive loss in the United States, clinicians have a great opportunity to explore this loss upon intake and journey alongside individuals in their healing. Understanding grief and trauma are essential components in breaking the silence and making the “invisible loss” visible, as well as building a strong therapeutic alliance with clients. This advanced course empowers both the clinician and the client to understand expected behaviors in reproductive loss and use a unified protocol approach.
Educational Goals and Objectives
- Understand the relationship between grief and trauma related to the healing process.
- Formulate a comprehensive assessment incorporating reproductive loss.
- Apply evidenced-based theoretical models for conceptualizing grief.
- Establish, discuss, and evaluate treatment planning.
- Learn and implement at least three interventions.

Much of our focus as care providers is on making sure that those for whom we care experience compassion and empathy. While empathy impacts the receiver, it also impacts the giver. This 90 minute webinar will address the impact of empathy on those who care for others. It will also cover how to assess for – and deal with – burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma.
Educational Goal and Objectives
- Differentiate between burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma
- Identify at least 3 inhibitors to personal self-care
- Develop a personal self-care plan
Reproductive Grief Care [2 Contact Hours]
Life Perspectives Reproductive Grief Care education for medical professionals helps physicians, nurses, and other medical providers to recognize reproductive loss, grief reactions, and learn to help patients actualize the loss, validate the grief, and begin to cope with those experiences. This course equips healthcare providers with a variety of effective communication modalities, cultural and spiritual competency skills, various options for memorialization, practical applications, and personal self-care strategies to positively impact the grief trajectory and promote healing for the bereaved.

Reproductive Grief Care Training
One in four pregnancies ends in miscarriage and one in four women in the US will have an abortion by the age of 45. Although these losses occur very differently, the grief experience is similar and affects men, women, family members and friends.
Our unique Reproductive Grief Care Training for health care professionals, pregnancy centers and clinics, universities and social service agencies, can bring hope and healing to hurting people who may be suffering alone.

Reproductive Grief Care Training
Reproductive Grief Care Training is a 3-hour seminar for faith-based leaders who want their organizations to bring hope and healing to hurting people who may be suffering alone.
Training will help broaden the understanding of grief and loss after miscarriage and abortion, providing essential knowledge, skills and empathetic listening tools. It will also explore how to be a safe place for hurting men and women, and provide practical resources to support those in the community.
This training is also ideal for family and friends of people who have been impacted by reproductive loss, to help them in their healing journey.

With training and practical resources for your entire team, it equips you to create an environment where men and women feel safe to disclose their reproductive history, and to support them in the midst of, or after, a loss. A Reproductive Grief Care Certified Organization is one that recognizes the impact of reproductive loss and commits itself to fostering a culture of healing and safety for any grieving person.They become significant leaders in their community by paving the way to healing for men and women who suffer in silence. It models a posture of compassion and sets a gold standard of care that will grow beyond its own walls as trained personnel touch the lives of those around them.
This certification is awarded to centers that demonstrate:
- Reproductive grief care competency among all staff and key volunteers
- Compliance with grief care best practices and protocols
- Appoints a Reproductive Care Coordinator (see job description)
- Adoption of Life Perspectives Commitment of Care
- Adoption of adequate self-care policies
